Terms of Service

Effective May 2026

By using Summarise, you agree to these terms. They’re written in plain language because legalese helps no one. If something isn’t clear, reach out.

You're in charge of your keys

If you bring your own API key (BYOK), you are responsible for keeping it safe. We encrypt it at rest and never share it, but we can't control what the provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Gemini) does with requests made using your key. If you suspect your key has been compromised, revoke it with your provider and update it in your settings.

The free tier is a courtesy

The platform free tier gives you 20 requests per month using our house OpenRouter key. This is a limited courtesy, not an entitlement. We may change the limit, pause, or discontinue the free tier at any time with reasonable notice. If you need reliability, bring your own key.

What you paste, you own

You retain all rights to the YouTube URLs you submit and the prompts you write. The generated output belongs to you. We don't claim ownership over any of your content. We don't train models on your data, and we don't sell it.

What we do with your content

We process your links and prompts to generate summaries and other output. We store your request history (video title, prompt, output) so you can revisit it. You can delete individual entries or clear your entire history at any time from within the app — see our Data Deletion page for how.

You must use the service lawfully

Don't use Summarise to violate any laws, infringe on anyone's rights, upload malicious content, or abuse the free tier (e.g., by creating multiple accounts to circumvent the quota). We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

The service is provided as-is

Summarise is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis. We make no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of generated output. The LLM can make mistakes — always use your judgment before acting on any summary or takeaway.

We may change these terms

If we update these terms, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using the service and delete your data.
